يتناول تعليم العزف على آلة البيانو موضوعات متعددة ومتنوعة كأساليب اللمس، وعزف السلالم، والأربيجات، والتألفات المتكاملة، والأوكتافات، وغيرها الكثير، وهى في تكاملها تكوِّن التقنيات العزفية التي يجب على عازف البيانو أن يكتسبها، ويتعرض البحث الراهن إلى تقنية أداء الأربيج باعتبارها إحدى أهم التقنيات العزفية التي ينبغي ممارستها بشكل دائم على آلة البيانو على الرغم من إحتوائها على صعوبات أدائية تواجه العازفين، ويُعد أسلوب الأمريكي ويليام مايسون في إكساب الطلاب مهارات أداء تقنية الأربيج على آلة البيانو نموذجاً فريداً يعمل البحث الحالي على عرضه وتحليله لتحقيق الإستفادة منه حيث أن طريقته الخاصة في تدريس العزف على آلة البيانو كان لها أكبر الأثر الإيجابي على الحياة الموسيقية في نهاية القرن التاسع عشر وبداية القرن العشرين بالولايات المتحدة الأمريكية، وهدف البحث إلى دراسة السيرة الذاتية للمؤلف الموسيقي الأمريكي ويليام مايسون وأهم مؤلفاته الموسيقية لآلة البيانو، بالإضافة إلى دراسة الخصائص الفنية في أسلوب ويليام مايسون لإكساب الطلاب العازفين مهارات أداء تقنية الأربيج على آلة البيانو والعمل على تحليلها للإستفادة منها، وقد جائت تساؤلات البحث حول ما الخصائص الفنية في أسلوب ويليام مايسون لإكساب الطلاب العازفين مهارات أداء تقنية الأربيج على آلة البيانو؟ وهل من الممكن تطبيق أسلوب ويليام مايسون في إكساب مهارات أداء تقنية الأربيج على آلة البيانو على الطلاب العازفين بالكليات والمعاهد الموسيقية المصرية؟ واتبع البحث المنهج الوصفي (تحليل محتوى)، وكانت عينة البحث عبارة عن الجزء الثالث بعنوان "المدرسة الكاملة للأربيجات" والذي يتضمن أسلوب الأمريكي ويليام مايسون في إكساب مهارات أداء تقنية الأربيج على آلة البيانو للطلاب العازفين.


Teaching piano include topics such as touch, scales, arpeggios, combined chords, octaves, and many more, and that in their integration they constitute the techniques that the pianist must acquire. The current research cares with the technique of performing arpeggios that as one of the most important instrumental techniques that should be practiced permanently on the piano, despite the fact that it contains performance difficulties facing the players. and The method of the American composer William Mason in acquiring students the skills of performing arpeggios on the piano is a unique model, and the current research make to presenting and analyzing to benefit from it, whereas his own method Teaching piano has the greatest positive impact on the musical life at the end of the nineteenth century and the beginning of the twentieth century in the United States of America. The aim of the research was to study the biography of William Mason and his most important compositions for the piano, in addition to a study his method of providing student musicians with the skills of performing the arpeggio technique on the piano, The research also raised questions about what are the technical characteristics of the American composer William Mason style to acquiring students the skills of performing arpeggios on the piano? And is it possible to apply his method on student in Egyptian colleges and conservatories? And the research followed the descriptive approach (content analysis), and the research sample was the third part entitled "The Complete School of Arpeggio", from his great book which includes his method in teach students the techniques of playing the piano,
